History of JMK

JMK Auto Sales, Inc. has been an important part of the Springfield New Jersey business and local community since 1970. Giving back to the community as much as they can is part of the JMK philosophy and work ethic.

The history of JMK Auto Sales began in 1965 with the formation of JMK Autobody by Albert Kosempel. Albrecht Maier and Gerhardt Jude.

In June of 1971, JMK Autobody officially became JMK Auto Sales, Inc. at its present Rt. 22, Springfield location. During that year, an agreement was made between JMK and BMW for service work only. By February 1972, JMK became a full BMW franchise.

In the years to follow, the main building was expanded and JMK Auto Sales signed an agreement for a Saab franchise in 1978. Also within this era, a new structure was built on the premises for pre-owned vehicles and a prep-center. In 1998, the bodyshop maintained the distinction of being the only BMW Certified Bodyshop on the East Coast. In late 2000, a new facility was constructed to house the Saab dealership located relatively close to the BMW building site on Rt. 22.

In 2004, JMK Auto Sales turned its sights on further expansion. They constructed and opened a new Saab dealership in Lebanon, New Jersey. With their main focus being on customer service and satisfaction, their Clientele could then be covered both East and West in New Jersey.

In 2005, JMK opened a brand new site, state of the art, BMW service department annex at their Route 22 location, better serving their customers and the surrounding communities.

Today, JMK Auto Sales is still a family owned and operated dealership. Second generation, Roger Kosempel, and Cathi Maier-Tajkowski, and long time employee Robert Schoenemann (BMW General Manager and Partner) maintain an active presence in all aspects and locations of the business as well as being an integral part of the community.

Their dedication and hard work has achieved them the 2005 BMW Center of Excellence award and the prestigious SAAB Mark of Excellence award, both for customer satisfaction.

To name just a few of their generous contributions, they have donated funding and many hours toward the Susan B. Komen Breast Center Foundation, Drive for the Cure. They also raised $64,500 toward Childrens Specialized Hospital in Mountainside for their new learning Center for children with learning disabilities.

In addition, JMK is a major contributor to various charities in Springfield and Mountainside. They have also donated BMW bicycles to the police Departments of Springfield and the surrounding communities. Springfield has been very fortunate to have JMK Auto Sales, Inc. as part of their family of businesses. Philanthropy is absolutely part of the JMK culture, says Roger Kosempel, President.
